I thought this band was signed to Nuclear Blast, doesn’t look like it wasn’t a long term relationship as the Germans are now releasing their third full-length album via Hamburg’s Remedy Records. Note: "Exposed To Hatred" and "Sociopathically Insane" originally appeared on the band’s debut CD "Flash-Burnt Crucifixes" but the band decided to re-record them and use them for their newest offering.

The title is awkward, "Let Me Be Your Tank"? The cover depicts the sight of a burning car, a café and a winged demon breaking out from the earth’s core, where’s the tank?... I fail to see the full picture here (but I’ll try to keep that line in mind next time I want to rent a hooker hehe). Then again it’s the music that counts and the music is quite good if you like your Thrash Metal guitar based.

The guitars are the main show, every song is dominated by traditional riffs and shredding solos from the old school of Thrash. It’s a one way track from beginning to end, DEATH, TESTAMENT, MEGADETH, the faster bands of the U.S. Thrash scene shine through tracks like "Strong Pain" and "Greed For Revenge". This band is not about experimentation or anything close to originality, so they have Death Metal parts and classic lead harmonies, those are two conventional weapons when you’re playing any extreme form of Metal today, including Thrash Metal.

Through forty-five minutes the band shows they’re capable of bringing a good and "average varied" Old School Metal show, everything is in order, but there are too many tracks that don’t get to me. The catchy choruses and overlong solos of "Empty Eyes" did make me feel like doing some air guitars, it’s not that I don’t like the album, I just feel I’m picking out good riffs instead of good songs.

When I’m listening to this album in focus I hear bits of "Flesh_Power_Dominion" minus the small amount of keyboards. They do sound a lot like CALLENISH CIRCLE, especially the melodies have the same Swedish subtle emotiveness signatures heard in the music of C.C. and Jurgen Aumann has a bit of Patrick Savelkoul in his growls and screaming, I think the band members will perhaps even agree to this observation.

Recorded at Stage One Studio with Andy Classen, FINAL BREATH comes one step closer to the previous CALLENISH CIRCLE comparison. Classen loves loud Thrashy guitars sounds, this album confirms that love one more time as he has pushed the axes upfront.

FINAL BREATH are everything but creative (or maybe challenging is the word I’m looking for), and I mean that in the nicest way, they know their stuff but are obviously not interested in knowing anything else. "Let Me Be Your Tank" is a good album for those about to Thrash, period. (Online November 18, 2004
