Gold CD In place of the aluminum commonly used as the reflective coating on regular CDs, gold is sometimes used, which coats more evenly and reacts with oxygen slower, providing greater longevity. The higher fidelity associated with gold CDs is actually a result of the remastering process and not of the gold coating itself. Gold CDs can be played in any CD player. thanks to my friends ![]() Van Halen - 1978 Van Halen 1998. DCC Gold Disc. Steve Hoffman's Remaster by server_alliance ![]() Amazon.com At least half of the songs on Van Halen's eponymous 1978 debut are still considered classics, and the Eddie Van Halen instrumental "Eruption" revolutionized the guitar community by introducing a technique called finger-tapping into the heavy metal lexicon. A magnificent debut for sure, but maybe the band should have held onto a few of their blockbuster tunes to bolster the lean years that started after 1984, and continue to the present day. Regardless, Van Halen amply demonstrate their drive, showmanship, and musicianship throughout, blowing the needle off the scale on such tracks as "You Really Got Me," "Jamie's Cryin'," "Runnin' with the Devil," and "Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love." --Jon Wiederhorn Product Description Released On Warner Bros. Records 1978 Produced By Ted Templeman Engineered By Donn Landee Remastered From The Original Warner Bros. Two-Track Master Mixes By Steve Hoffman Everything wrong with 'audiophile music' is right on DCC's reissue of Van Halen's debut record 'Van Halen.' This record is loaded with the ground breaking style and classic songs that literally cleared the way for hard rock and metal in the 1980's. ![]() ![]() Review by Greg Prato Van Halen's self-titled 1978 debut is undoubtedly one of the all-time best debuts by a hard rock/heavy metal band. All of the components for a classic are represented - excellent songs and high-octane performances (the excitement of their live show was captured perfectly by producer Ted Templeman) are used to create an invigorating, original sound. Like other acclaimed debuts (Led Zeppelin, Are You Experienced?), Van Halen has a raw edge since it was recorded quickly, and every single song is a winner. It's also become one of the ultimate party albums over the years, since the overall mood is excited and celebratory. While singer David Lee Roth's bravado and the steady rhythm section of drummer Alex Van Halen and bassist Michael Anthony were both key ingredients, the main attraction was Eddie Van Halen's guitar playing. Few other guitarists have had such an instant impact on a generation of up-and-coming players who copied his unorthodox, kamikaze style - especially his trademark tapping technique showcased on the album's legendary solo, "Eruption." Almost all of the tracks on Van Halen have rightfully become radio staples, such as the scorching rockers "Runnin' With the Devil," "Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love," "Jamie's Cryin'," "Atomic Punk," and "On Fire," while covers of "You Really Got Me" and "Ice Cream Man" remain awe-inspiring to this day. Van Halen proved to be the ultimate coming-of-age soundtrack to many a teenager since its release, resulting in sales of over ten million in the U.S. alone. Everyone on the planet should own a copy of this landmark release. |

пару слов о группе (wikipedia):![]() Van Halen is an American rock band formed in the early-1970s and discovered by KISS bassist and co-founder Gene Simmons. The band's first studio album, Van Halen, released in 1978 is widely regarded as a milestone in rock music. With this first release, the band established itself as a leader in the emerging and commercially successful U.S. heavy metal music genre of the 1980s. In particular, the band's guitarist, Eddie Van Halen, quickly gained widespread notoriety for his technical prowess and musical sensibility. Almost overnight, he was touted as one of the most innovative and influential American rock and roll guitarists.The band has also established itself as one of the major live acts of that era, opening up for Journey, Montrose, and later Black Sabbath in 1978. According to Ozzy Osbourne, bringing Van Halen along on the tour was not the best idea because Van Halen simply outplayed them. It also became very popular for the antics, stage presence and larger-than-life persona of its lead singer, David Lee Roth, who was frequently called "Van Halen" by new fans. From 1978 to 1998 the band released 11 studio albums (all of which broke the Top 20 spot of the Billboard 200 music charts). The band has sold more than 75 million albums worldwide and has received several Grammy nominations. Van Halen is listed in the Guinness Book of World Records with the most number one hits on the Billboard Mainstream Rock List. According to the Recording Industry Association of America Van Halen is #19 on the list of Top Selling Artists of all time (having sold more than 56 million albums in the U.S.). Van Halen is one of five rock groups in the world that have had 2 albums sell more than 10 million albums in the U.S. (the others being: Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, The Eagles and Def Leppard). |

Posted by: LF_ on 11-01-2006, 18:41 |

Posted by: OlCh on 11-01-2006, 20:35 |
Posted by: yury_usa on 11-01-2006, 20:38 | ||

Van Halen Van Halen (DCC Gold Disc) That came out great! I heard the regular CD of that... was there bass guitar on there? But on the master tape, it's really nice. It sounds really good. But apparently the tape I used was never used to make anything. It was just the original mixes, and they were immediately copied to a more "easy to cut" version for LP, and that was marked as master. The same old story. But that's what has been used all these years to make everything: to make the CDs, the LPs, the copies for England, all the other countries. So the original master had this nice full sound. It still sounds like Van Halen, but to me it's just more of everything. Steve Hoffman |
