Review "Closer Than They Appear, is the synthesis of folk, blues, and jazz. Sara K. has added more fuel to the controversy: Is there a common ground between folk and jazz? Sara K. (Paired with Chesky guitarist Bruce Dunlap who serves as her musical director) takes ready advantage of not only her labels' penchant for painstaking fidelity, but she also samples an arsenal of jazz tones and musical genre's." This CD was recorded in the original RCA studios in 1992, her first for Chesky Records. It includes some of her finest originals, as well as a unique, compassionate rendition of Dylan's "Like A Rolling Stone". Along with Bruce, Sara is accompanied by Jamie Haddad on percussion, as well as upright bass, hammered dulcimer and saxophone. Southwest rugged romance meets uptown New York in the perfect acoustical setting. http://www.chesky.com/core/body_artist.cfm?artistid=100037 (http://www.chesky.com/core/body_artist.cfm?artistid=100037 |
