Giovanni Bassano (1558 - 1617) Motets, Madrigals and Canzoni francese Performers: Santina Tomasello - soprano Alessandro Carmignani - altus Paolo Fanciullacci - tenor Marcello Vargetto - bass Lapo Bramanti - recorder Stefano Lorenzetti - organ and harpsichord Ensemble: Musica Figurata Giovanni Bassano was a Venetian musician and composer (1558-1617). At St. Mark’s he probably worked alongside the now far better known G. Gabrieli. Bassano also published on embellishment and his own music, especially his motets, clearly demonstrates a love of ornamentation. As such he even influenced G. Gabrieli’s work. Some of Bassano’s Canzonetti were already printed in London at the end of the 16th century. This unknown intimate music proves to be both interesting and pleasant to the ear. The Italian ensemble Musica Figurata plays on period instruments. Tracklist: 01. Introduxit me rex 3:29 02. Lo canterei d'amor / Signor mio caro 4:17 03. Modo I 3:01 04. Modo II 3:01 05.
