Description:
If you have ever heard the throbbing, hypnotic sounds of "High Energy Protons" by Juno Reactor, you know how easy it would be to get hooked on this far-out, progressive trance act. Comprised mainly of Ben Watkins and Mike Maguire (with other assorted guest players), Juno Reactor has captured and led a large part of the worldwide trance movement.

Signed to NovaMute in the early 90's, the band released the single that made everyone listen twice. "High Energy Protons" was a killer single on the NovaMute label, and segued into a full-length album entitled, "Transmissions," a classic, deep, yet energetic trance journey into techno space. This sound paved the way for today's storming psychedelic trance scene, slowly developing on the beaches of Goa and in the U.K. The band faded away for a few years to persue some production and remix projects, until given furthur recognition in 1996 when they released "Beyond the Infinite," on Blue Room Released Records in the U.K., picking up additional U.S. distribution on Hypnotic, a sub-distribution label of Cleopatra. The new album brought in a rush of more highly-produced tracks, pushing Juno Reactor into the U.S. markets, where they eventually played trance parties in New York and San Francisco.

-----------------------------------------------

Transmissions leads off with Juno Reactor's biggest club hit to date, "High Energy Protons," a curious track that translates three-chord heavy metal through some 303 acid with a few suitably trippy vocals. The rest of the album has more of the same, alternately spacy or psychedelic. It's occasionally reminiscent of the Orb's ambient-dub, especially on the astronaut-sampling "Luna-Tic."

-----------------------------------------------

The debut album of Juno Reactor. Released over 12 years ago. It begins with the still awesome track High Energy Protons. This CD sounds pretty raw and not as slick as newer albums, but its still a great album, considering its age. Mostly great tracks here with #4 and #5 being the weakest IMO. The CD ends with a very nice spacey/downtempo track! I prefer the first 3 albums of Juno Reactor rather then the newer ones (shango, et al.). But this should be a must have for any Juno fan!

Tracklist:
1. High Energy Protons [6:32]
2. The Heavens [6:26]
3. Luna-Tic [9:01]
4. Contact [5:53]
5. Acid Moon [8:38]
6. 10,000 Miles [5:55]
7. Laughing Gas [8:04]
8. Man to Ray [6:43]
9. Landing [8:40]
