What better way to wash of the recent Bedlight For Blue Eyes debacle than listening to some extreme Polish death/black metal featuring members of Behemoth and Vader? With Behemoth’s Orion at the helm and Vader’s Darek 'Daray' Brzozowski behind the drums, Vesania’s sound is set in stone, but Vesania thrown in some suitably blackened epic synths to make the whole thing sort of Emperor/Dimmu Borgor-ish, but with a latent death metal malevolence.

God The Lux is a good album, it’s a very good album, but it never quite distinguishes itself from its obvious influences and inherent band member sounds, which you can take as good or bad. On a purely objective level, Vesania deliver the goods in spades; grandiose blast beats, stern marches, pummeling percussion, scathing pacing and a stout production, but there’s a nagging feeling around each riff that I’ve heard it somewhere before on either a Behemoth, Vader or Emperor album. Still, that’s pretty good company and it doesn’t stop me from enjoying God The Lux immensely and it’s certainly a better than the effort from fellow Poles Crionics.

It starts right out of the gate with the distorted opening of "Rest In Pain" with its subsequent ferocity and stout mid section. "Posthuman Kind" delivers a mid paced, mechanical gait and the instrumental "Lumen Clamosum" is the calm before the storm that is the ballistically epic title track and more traditionally blackened synth tinkering of "Syncroscheme". The gloriously patient build of "Phosphorror" eventually peaks with a riotous climax and blends smoothly into second instrumental, "Lumen Funescum" again acting as the calm before the storm this time in the form of "The Mystory" with its Behemoth-like Middle Eastern tangent and huge lurch. "Fireclipse" takes on more Emperor like tones with a elegant yet stuttering, angular yet supine riffage giving way to the final instrumental, "Lumen Coruscum".

"Legions Are Me" closes out the album with a befitting mix of size and scope, and even with the needless minutes of silence (that makes the album last 66 minutes and 6 seconds long) for "Inlustra Nigror" I’m left satisfied. Orion isn’t the most dominant front man, and there are a few too many distorted robotic vocal moments, but he gets the job done.

A damn solid debut, and a band that I hope gets continued attention above and beyond the Behemoth and Vader ties and one that I hope Orion and Daray continue to develop.
