tracks: 1. Sins 2. Gunman 3. Black Market Dealers 4. Maschine Zeit 5. Nuclear Winter 6. Under Deck 7. Cold War 8. Journey, The 9. Nothing To Include 10. Last, The 11. Zeit label: metropolis records, 2000 Funker Vogt: Jens Kastel (vocals); Thomas Kroll (guitar); Gerrit Thomas (synthesizer, programming, background vocals); Bjorn Bottcher (synthesizer). Recorded in 1999 and 2000. The German superstars of macho EBM are back with their latest fullength, titled "Maschine Zeit". I was a little tense since the last album "Execution Tracks" was a disappointment compared to "We Came to Kill". What do you get on this album? There is neither anything new, nor any surprises. Merely the good old EBM stuff, focusing around war and similar obvious themes. When I listen to the album, it feels like I've heard the songs before. All of them seem to be made with a certain pattern. Oh, I almost forgot. There's actually a calm piano piece, "Nuclear Winter", which hasn't got the standard drumbeat! It's not that good, though. This is non-complicated music and the melodies are as simple as nursery rhymes. And I just wish they could do something about the ridiculous image and lyrics. Well, it doesn't matter what these guys do. Their releases are destined to be top sellers, which is sad when there are lots of underground and unknown acts deserving the attention and backup.
