Barnes "Music Collector" (Ft. Lauderdale, Florida) First, lets look at the bottom line- dollars. There is another excellent greatest hits package at $... bucks, and is great. For ... bucks more, you get the definitive collection of one of the best garage bands to come out of the 60's, who have never been copied, and have never been duplicated. Paul Revere and the Raiders were one of the few 60's bands that repeated their success from album to album. This collection represents that success. It presents stereo mixes of many great hits for the first time.It also lists rarities and songs made famous on the "Where the Action is" TV Show. Just look at the list of hits alone...."Just Like Me", Pat Benatar could not do it justice), "Kicks", "Hungry", "Good Thing " (my favorite), "Him Or Me, What's It Gonna Be "," Mr. Sun Mr Moon", "Let Me", of course "Indian Reservation (Lament Of The Cherokee)",(Better than Don Fardons version), and others. It also contains other favorites as "Steppin' Out", "Sometimes", "Great Airplane Strike", TV Spots, and classic 60's songs. The collection showcases their "covers" period as well in an excellent manner, showing Mark Lindsays Talents in songs such as "Searchin" "oh Pa Doo" and "Night Train". This is a party band, and the party songs are here. A child of the 60's must have this album. This is DJ must have. If you want just the main hits, the other is for you (you won't be disappointed). But if you are a fan, and like good time rock and roll, you will be delighted! Even the rarity "Like Long Hair" is on this album! A strong recommendation! I recommend this double CD. DISC 1:
Legend Of Paul Revere Album Notes This 55 song anthology contains 10 never before released songs and many B-sides. Many of the tracks are in true stereo for the first time. Also included are 3 original pre-Columbia, Gardena recordings. The booklet includes a full discography and liner notes from people associated with the band including: Dick Clark, Roger Hart, Derek Taylor, as well as former Raiders. Wherever the multi-track tapes were not available, the original mono was used. Not the most inspired title, but if you're looking for the best possible Paul Revere And The Raiders compilation, you've found it. THE LEGEND OF PAUL REVERE is a two-disc collection covering the group's vital years, from their days as one of the great frat-rock combos of the Pacific Northwest--second only to the immortal Wailers--through their years as a California hit machine, to their later incarnation as a more reflective, socially conscious unit. From early frat-rock stompers "Like Long Hair" and "Louie Louie"--some say the Raiders did it better than the Kingsmen--through pop classics such as "Just Like Me" and Hungry," to less well-known but just as vital late '60s sunshine pop like "Cinderella Sunshine," this collection has all you need--including "Indian Reservation." However, if you still want more, check out Sundazed's exemplary reissues of the individual albums.
