QUOTE
The ensemble was formed in 1985 by young gypsies from Nagyecsed to perform the songs and dance of their birthplace on stage artistically. (Nagyecsed is the village from where Hungarian gipsy folk and dance movements started at the end of the 70's).
At the beginning Rományi Rota worked as a traditional dance ensemble where from the young till the elderly the local gipsy community could take part.
Since 1989 they have worked in Budapest with five permanent members, sometimes guest dancers. The ensemble plays authentic folk music with different dialects of the gipsy folklore. Rományi Rota means Gipsy Wheel - a symbol known worldwide for the eternal cycle of life and the gipsy wandering.
Their aim is to preserve and popularise traditional gipsy folk songs and dances of Central and East-Europe. To play genuinely, but uniquely for people at home and abroad thus promoting tolerance and mutual sympathy between different peoples
