Sick Speed is the new band of ex-Stuck Mojo member Rich Ward, who obviously had enough of all the rap/crossover limitations, especially concerning the problem of implementing melodic vocals into that kinda genre. In the end, he really did a step into the right direction: Sick Speed do play a mixture of some of the groovy crossover portions of Stuck Mojo (but with a very few rap vocals!) and something that I would almost call an AOR touch. The peeps around Rich Ward who is doing the main vocals and the guitar on this one are almost having a kind of progressive classic rock background on many of their debut tracks. Just check the very cool song "Hero", which is driven by a great chorus or the track "Autumn Brings" that is living of its sad atmosphere and ambient touch. Another great plus is the circumstance that the band is working with some guest musicians just in the right places: especially singer and songwriter Eddie Gowan, a long-time bud of Rich, is doing excellent work eg. on the very last song on the CD called "Believe" Rich Ward really did expand his abilities to the max by leaving Stuck Mojo, no doubt about that. Being produced by mastermind Andy Sneap, this is definitely the best of both worlds with a high-class production, so lesson learned!
