The Allman Brothers Band Formed: 1969 in Macon, GA Years Active: 1969 - 2004 Group Members: Gregg Allman Dickey Betts Warren Haynes Duane Allman Oteil Burbridge David Goldflies Jai Johanny Johanson Chuck Leavell Berry Oakley Marc Quiсones David Frankie Toler Butch Trucks Lamar Williams Allen Woody Johnny Neel Jack Pearson Genres: Rock Styles: Blues-Rock, Southern Rock, Album Rock, Slide Guitar Blues, United States of America, Hard Rock, Boogie Rock Tones: Greasy, Carefree, Amiable/Good-Natured, Organic, Reckless, Happy, Confident, Rousing, Rollicking, Passionate, Fun, Earthy Biography by Bruce Eder The story of the Allman Brothers Band is one of triumph, tragedy, redemption, dissolution, and a new redemption. Over nearly 30 years, they've gone from being America's single most influential band to a has-been group trading on past glories, to reach the 21st century as one of the most respected rock acts of their era. For the first half of the 1970s, the Allman Brothers Band was the most influential rock group in America, redefining rock music and its boundaries. The band's mix of blues, country, jazz, and even classical influences, and their powerful, extended on-stage jamming altered the standards of concert performance - other groups were known for their on-stage jamming, but when the Allman Brothers stretched a song out for 30 or 40 minutes, at their best they were exciting, never self-indulgent. They gave it all a distinctly Southern voice and, in the process, opened the way for a wave of '70s rock acts from south of the Mason-Dixon Line, including the Marshall Tucker Band, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and Blackfoot, whose music, at least initially, celebrated their roots. And for a time, almost single-handedly, they also made Capricorn Records into a major independent label. .... Read More... ............................................................ 1969. The Allman Brothers Band Date of Release: 1997 Capricorn 20-bit remastered Review by Bruce Eder This might be the best debut album ever delivered by an American blues band, a bold, powerful, hard-edged, soulful essay in electric blues with a native Southern ambience. Some lingering elements of the psychedelic era then drawing to a close can be found in "Dreams," along with the template for the group's onstage workouts with "Whipping Post," and a solid cover of Muddy Waters' "Trouble No More." There isn't a bad song here, and only the fact that the group did even better the next time out keeps this from getting the highest possible rating. 1 Don't Want You No More Davis, Hardin 2:26 2 It's Not My Cross to Bear Allman 5:03 3 Black Hearted Woman Allman 5:10 4 Trouble No More Waters 3:47 5 Every Hungry Woman Allman 4:15 6 Dreams Allman 7:20 7 Whipping Post Allman 5:16 Duane Allman Guitar (Acoustic), Guitar, Slide Guitar Gregg Allman Organ, Keyboards, Vocals Adrian Barber Producer, Engineer Dickey Betts Guitar, Vocals Jai Johanny Johanson Percussion, Conga, Drums Berry Oakley Bass Butch Trucks Percussion, Drums, Maracas, Timbales eac-cue-flac-scans-rar 264MB The.Allman.Brother.Band-1969.Remaster.1997.[Eac.Cue.Flac.Covers].rar ----------------------------------------------- Live at the Atlanta International Pop Festival: July 3 & 5, 1970 Date of Release Oct 21, 2003 - Over 150 minutes of unreleased music - Recorded July 1970 - 8 Months BEFORE Fillmore East - Newly mixed and mastered from the ORIGINAL multi-track tapes For the first time anywhere - officially or not - two (mostly) complete performances by the Allman Brothers at the Atlanta International Pop Festival over the Fourth of July weekend (they were the bookends of the fest) in 1970 have been issued with stellar sound, complete annotation and cool liner notes...
