Hi Ivano, The main reason to use EAC (Exact Audio Copy) is because it rips more secure. What EAC does is read every sector (at least) twice and then compares both readouts with each other. If they're the same, the sector is approved and added to the disc image. If not, EAC will read a few more times and then usually it will find a number of readouts which are the same and use this to add to the image file. It will also mention this in the log file, so you can easily search for the sector in question and listen to it, to check it sounds right and has nog spikes or noise. The reason for the above is that CD and DVD drives in computers are optimized to read in blocks and not continuously like drives found in stand alone CD players. This means there can be faulty readouts at the beginning or end of the sectors. As for APE (Monkey Audio) or FLAC (Free Lossless Audio Compression), these are compression formats like ZIP or RAR, but only they're optimized to compress WAV files. It's a lossless compression, so no information is lost at all. You can easily check that by compressing a WAV file with FLAC or APE, decompress it and then compare it with the original file. A lot of programs can do this comparison, but since you already have EAC, you can use the file compare utility in the 'Tools' menu. You'll see that every bit of the original file and the file that was compressed are 100% identical. The reason to use APE or FLAC instead of ZIP or RAR is simply because APE and FLAC files are smaller and this makes it easier for people with a slower internet connection to download the file, but also people with a faster internet connection will benefit from it, as the file will spread much faster, so there are more sources available to download from. My remarks above are just meant as constructive criticism to improve this forum, not to complain about your contribution. So as a final remark I'd like to say: "Thank you for sharing your music with us" |

в общем случае - это всё может даже быть идентичным, если гарантированно нет ошибок в первоначальном рипе. |
