yesterday got this shit and have no idea where it came from. i guess after one of the latest updates. safe mode works fine but come on,
what to do, anyway? any suggestions or help will be appreciated.
uninstall and re-install video drivers doesn't work, though.
last known configuration doesn't work either. vista repair from dvd said everything is fine.
i even tried to re-install vista itself. ok, guess what i got...
tried to google this crap out and it seems to be very common problem around and still no solution.
it sucks, guys.

p.s. there is no russian keyboard in safe mode. so, i'm sorry.

nope, oc doesn't matter. just re-installed the system (yep, one more time ) and have blocked vista updates. well, everything is going fine so far.
i'm pretty sure there is something in latest updates that does conflict with particular video drivers because system was running normal, just had no picture.
if so - there is gonna be fix for that issue, i hope at least.

btw, this is not only about video drivers. seems like any hardware drivers might get (or might get not) affected.
i've read about printers, scanners, vitrual devices etc. ppl got 'em installed, reboot and b0000m - black screen and mouse cursor after log in.

so, uncle billy got screwed again. looks like that way to me.

Nuairi, have you tried reading nvidia forums on this issue? Maybe they have new/beta drivers?

i haven't but as i said this is not about the drivers (i've read a lot so-called "black scrreen mouse cursor" threads).
just google it by youself and you'll see.
i had these drivers installed few weeks, had no problem at all and yesterday everything was just perfect until i have downloaded some "updates" you know where and after reboot i got what i got.

суть проблемы в том, что по каким-то причинам не запускается explorer.exe после логина.
изучение логов показало, что вызывается 100% загрузкой проца.
для explorer просто не хватает ресурсов. по ходу дела random.

This procedure enables you to edit the registry from within the Vista Recovery Environment. Be careful and follow the steps explicitly.
Follow the same steps, as in the previous message to access the RE with the Vista boot disc.
At the Repair options, select the Command Prompt option.
1. Type C: [Press ENTER]
2. At C:> type regedit [Press ENTER]
The registry editor will open.
3. In the Registry select 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE' and then go to File/Load Hive.
In the 'Load Hive' dialog box, navigate to the C:\Windows\System32\Config folder.
In the Config folder, select SOFTWARE and click Open.
In the Name Hive dialog box, type a unique name, such as EDIT1 and click OK.
4. You should now see the EDIT1 branch, expand this branch and navigate to,
\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon.
5. In the right side of the Winlogon Key you will see a Value called 'Shell', double click this value.
In the Value Data box, it should show 'Explorer.exe' and nothing else. If it shows something different, change the Value Data to Explorer.exe.
Click OK.
6. Scroll back up and select the EDIT1 branch.
7. Go to File and select Unload Hive.
Exit the registry editor and the command prompt. Press the 'Restart' button to reboot.
Reboot normally.
