The Moody Blues began life as an R&B ensemble in Birmingham, England, called El Riot and The Rebels.Two former members of the band, singer Ray Thomas and singer/keyboardist Mike Pinder.The band debuted on the Birmingham club circuit in 1964, and almost immediately attracted the attention of a manager and a record company. Their first single, "Steal Your Heart Away," was released just four months after the group's formation. But it attracted little attention. Two months later, "Go Now" was released and zoomed up the charts. It went all the way to No. 1 in Britain and peaked at No. 10 in the States.
