The Hand (Aggro Trash) 8. The Hand [Cut Throat Psycho Rave] 9. We Have to See, We Have to Know [Extended] 10. The Hopeless 11. Murder the World 12. The Dead 13. So Much Label: Metropolis Released: February 17, 2004 Between The Eyes Vol 1. The best of singles and rare un released material from 1996 to 2000. This cd in my opinion is all most like a greatest hits, song after song pounds you, hits you right between the eyes. A very up tempo cd with fast dance styles mixed with industrial, ebm, goa, and trance. Futile (nazi bastard) never made it to the USA, this was our biggest hit in the european dance market. The Hand mixes never got the credit they deserved. Many of these tracks were neglected because CD singles just don't seem to sell. as a full legnth cd with lots of rare tracks it works well, and now you can get out of print rare songs that you could not get before. Notable Tracks: Futile Nazi, Dial8 Gagged, The Hand Cut Throat, We have to see.... .................................................................... I love this cd, it is filling in the cracks of the back catalog, plus all the best songs and remixes we have ever done. No more Church of Acid. Now the entire back catalog from 1994 to 1996 will be released on volumes 2, 3, and 4. I have also put up a pre 1994 compilation (Oblivion Interface) in mp3 form on this web site. Only for this web site. FREE. it's in the earbleed section.. Stay Tuned for release Dates on Volumes 2, 3, and 4. Go out and get volume 1 today.. you won't regret it. Rebuilding the studio, buying and selling things. Decided against software synths, they lack the sound that even outboard VAs have. So now i am a hybrid studio of Samplers, VAs, RAs and lots of outboard fx. I learn new things every day about my gear and how to exploit it. One track for the new cd (that will come out in 2005) is done. It sounds like the FWK era. But i will try to make the next cd a mix of every genre i love. one song for each style i adore.. this is my plan, who knows if i can stick to it.. Being a Raw vegan is hard sometimes. I cheated and ate cooked food recently, and it made me so sick, i was laid up for a few days. Never again, once you become raw and pure, and you eat filth again it is like a nightmare, the taste is great but then your body throws a fit and you lack energy, get ill and feel like dying... gross. never again.. bye bi, bryan. ............................................................................................. It's tough to listen to really stylized and time-sensitive music, especially if you're experiencing it ten years after the fact. Industrial music fits that description; if you didn't get into it during the late eighties or early nineties, it will be harder to do so now, as mainstream acts have borrowed from the genre and diluted its soul in the process. This collection of Velvet Acid Christ's "greatest hits" is probably intended more for collectors, and won't convert new disciples unless said converts are the groups of black-clad kids who hang out at Denny's and somehow haven't heard of the band (yes, I was one of those). The music sounds really dated, even the remixes, but that's not such a bad thing. "Dial8 (Bound and Gagged Mix by Din_Fiv)" highlights VAC mastermind Bryan Erikson's growling "bear" vocals over dramatic synth arpeggiations and acid bass-lines; he sounds just as good as, and possibly creepier than, Ogre. "Disflux (Feed Back Mix)" demonstrates the genre's claim to fame: science-fiction samples (in this case, Worf from Star Trek, Next Generation) to punctuate the desperation of the message ("You see? They are insane...screeching, pounding dissonance / it is not music") and provide some relief from the repetitive, linear rhythm. The raw and minimal "Murder the World" is most definitely one of the songs "taken from early demo tapes", but it holds its own against the rest of the more fleshed out tracks. Though VAC's beats are largely "techno" and "house" based, a few of the tracks, including "The Hand (Aggro Mix)", rock hard, and give insight into the stories that these guys were utterly insane live. Who knows -- this compilation might inspire a new generation of artists to take back this sound. Regardless, Between the Eyes puts a wealth of rare and unreleased VAC material within reach of the people who want to own it. -- Dave Madden |
