Have you ever heard of the Finish band Children Of Bodom? The band where some Alexi takes care of the vocals and the guitars? And do you tend to find that band boring after hearing their first albums? Then you must definitely check out the Finish band Imperanon! The band where some Aleksi takes care of the vocals and the guitars!

Imperanon proves a band can be even MORE boring than Children of Bodom - While using exact the same song structures, solo's, keyboards and vocals. "Stained" is full of songs that sucked a bit too much to be on Children Of Bodom's albums. I guess Imperanon stalked the rehearsal room of the band I mentioned on and on and stole their worst songs! Or did Imperanon started out as an Children Of Bodom cover band? "The future of melodic death belongs to Imperanon!" Nuclear Blast, what were you thinking? This is almost an exact copy of mmm (I don't name them anymore), only the average pace isn't that high and the production not that powerful => a B clone. I just have to hear one song to skip the whole CD. I have to admit the band shows amazing talent at their instruments! Keeping in mind the guys are very young with an average age of twenty years! There's nothing from with the superb solo's and keyboard leads, all is perfectly played without any doubt! The problem with this melodic death metal on power metal structures are the enervating high guitar notes. Therefore I'm glad some vocal variation comes along on song six: "Hollow man". Heavy metal baby... Two songs later female vocals pop up and make "Shadowsouls" sound very powerful and up tempo. Personally the highlight of "Stained". I even like this song... Actually, it rocks big time!!!

Well, let's say I think "Stained" is wrong, full of clichй and as unoriginal as possible! People who can't get enough of mmm alike music and Vivaldi goes baroque death/power metal, take your shot, you will be pleased at your will!



From the opener ‘Blade’ to suitably titled album closer ‘The End’, fiddly high-end guitars and keyboards dance over pounding riffs and a need-for-speed headbanging rhythm section, that barely lets up for the clean-vocalled chorus of ‘Hollow Man’ and not at all for the damned-catchy and brilliant power-metal track - ‘Shadowsouls’.

‘Stained’ would be one of the top in COB’s discography, so for this album to come out of nowhere dwarfs any complaints you may have about the unique-ness of the music. This should be checked out without any pretences that your gonna get anything but enjoyable class-A quality metal. Now if you’re done I’d like my cleaver back.
