In 1994 STRATOVARIUS mainman Timo Tolkki took time out to record a solo project. Previous to finding international success as STRATOVARIUS, Tolkki had played a considerable part in fostering Finland's Rock and Metal scene by acting as producer for many up and coming acts. Surfacing on Shark Records, Timo's debut album 'Classical Variations And Themes', recorded at Soundtrack Studios in Helsinki, found the Finn handling virtually all instrumentation himself, save for keyboard contributions from Antti Ikonen and drums supplied by Tuomo Lassila. Included would be an interpretation of Tchaikovsky's 'Death Of A Swan' and a re-work of the traditional 'Greensleeves'.
The 2002 album 'Hymn To Life' would include guest contributions from Sharon Den Adel of WITHIN TEMPTATION and erstwhile HELLOWEEN vocalist MICHAEL KISKE.
