Tracklist:
1.Brazuzan - Taller Than A Hill 2.The Last Pendragon 3.Abracadabra 4.The Last Words 5.The Wanderings Of Oisin 6.The Delirium Has Just Begun... Label: Heavy Metal Rock Playing time: 37:14 After hearing TUATHA DE DANANN's previous release "Tingaralatingadun", I learnt an invaluable lesson that I will not soon forget: one must never judge a book by its cover. With this in mind, I did my best to look past the hilarious album cover to TUATHA's latest entitled "The Delirium Has Just Begun┘" and was more than rewarded for my efforts with an album filled with incredibly enjoyable Folk Metal tunes that one cannot help but smile at. I'm not quite sure what it is, but these Brazilians have an unquestionable knack for creating impossibly catchy songs that you'll find yourself singing long after this album reaches its conclusion. Check out the opening track "Brazuzan - Taller Than A Hill" to understand where I'm coming from. The folk atmosphere created by the flutes, and keyboards work perfectly with the crunchy guitars to demonstrate to the listener exactly what TUATHA DE DANANN are all about: heavy, yet accessible Folk Metal that makes you want to stand up and shout. Another aspect of this album that must be emphasized is the fact that TUATHA DE DANANN never fail in striking a perfect balance between the folk, as well as the Metal aspect of the music without ever letting one overshadow the other. The fact that they are able to flawlessly switch from one to the other is a pleasure to behold. A prime example can be found in the way that the band is able to deliver a track like "The Last Pendragon", full of memorable riffs, solos, as well as guitar/ keyboard interplay, and then follow-up with a wonderful folk-jig ("Abracadabra"), and a beautiful folk-ballad still full of soaring guitars ("The Last Words"). The transition is always flawless and never seems forced, which is truly a pleasure. After another acoustic folk-ballad ("The Wanderings Of Oisin"), the band then unleashes a ten minute beast of a track, appropriately titled "The Delirium Has Just Began┘". This song is quite simply the pinnacle of the album as it perfectly demonstrates just what this band is capable of. Heavy, technical guitar work, equally technical keyboards, sitars, aggressive drumming, and folky acoustic guitars all come together to create a track that could (and should) be classified as Progressive Folk Metal. After a flute ushers out the final note, a brief silence then gives way to the main theme from the opening track to give the album a very complete feel. While I haven't really gone into much detail regarding each individual member's performance, believe me when I say that these Brazilians handle themselves like professionals from start to finish. If you consider yourself to be a fan of Folk-inspired Metal, do not hesitate to give TUATHA DE DANANN your undivided attention. You can thank me later.
