Biography by Bradley Torreano Murderdolls is a collaboration between Slipknot guitarist Joey Jordison and Static-X guitarist Tripp Eisen. Landing somewhere between the aggressive throb of rap metal and the energetic charge of hardcore punk, Murderdolls formed when the two guitarists toured together during the 1999 Ozzfest. Drafting singer Wednesday 13, bassist Eric Griffin, and drummer Ben Graves into the mix, the band recorded and released Beyond the Valley of the Murderdolls in 2002.

However it's an easy listening album that you couldn't really call metal, but more punk-metal. The lyrics are funny and the riffs light but brilliantly played. It's also surprising that Joey Jordison plays guitars in this band, unlike his trademark drumming as he does in Slipknot. The drumming however could have been taken from Joey playing in Slipknot as it's very heavy in places. The album starts with the song 'Slit my wrist' which is an awesome opening song and sets the tone for the rest of the album. It's got a brilliant riff, great drumming and solid lyrics. One thing you will notice from the start is how similar Wednesday 13's voice is to Marilyn Manson. However this isn't a bad thing as it adds depth to the music, as a true screaming voice such as Corey Taylor of Slipknot would probably ruin the comedy of the lyrics. Probably one thing that makes this album so good is variety. Although the songs are all quite light and funny, they are all different in their own ways. Each riff and melody is original and some songs such as 'People hate me' and 'Die my bride' are almost legends in their own right as they mix very heavy druming and guitar riffs with funny lyrics, which make the songs very good indeed. The only problem with the album is the ends of nearly all the songs follow a similar pattern of chorus/guitar solo/chorus. On the whole this is a superb album and if you're a fan of heavy punk, light metal, Joey Jordison, Tripp Eisen or Marilyn Manson you should consider buying this album and i guarantee you will not be disappointed.
