We take you back to 1994, in many ways an exceptional year for music. It was a year a lot of new music styles were about to break through and at the same time, it was in the period 93-94 when the deepest progressive ambient tracks have been released, the Apollo compilations, FSOL releases, early TEE compilations, very first Cafe Del Mar, Biosphere, Pete Namlook and so much more now all time classics popped up. Equally important at that time were the special t:me recording releases. t:me recordings has long been the home for extravagant experimental sound sculpturists and the extraordinary creativity at that time produced some jewels, the em:t3394 being one of them. The 3394 release shines for its balanced creativity. The creative energy is applied in musically appealing sounds. Where sometimes creativity finds its outlet in mostly irritating noises, 3394 offers quite the opposite. At the same time, ambient is always a struggle to transcend the mediocre new age type of albums. Also in this respect, 3394 wins the battle hands down.
Over 8 tracks with average length of 7 to 8 minutes a well laid out variation is offered of ambient that seaminglessly blends sounds from deep space, nature, world music, classical themes, creepy voices, bizarre noises. 8 different artists, among which the well known experimentalist David Toop, bring an amazingly coherent atmosphere. Like so many really great albums, this is again a full listening experience, highly recommended to inhale in a single listening session. Take off with the softness of Sine and "What's On Your Mind" and make this long trip to Miasma's "Light Storm". em:t3394 is high quality electronics definitely recommended for all ambient freaks.
