Singer/songwriter Asa (born Bukola Elemide in Paris, 1982) arrived on the scene in 2007 with a smooth blend of warm and soulful folkish influences rooted in her Nigerian background. The highlights of her first album, Asha, ranged from catchy and groovy tunes to softly realized and warmly interpreted ballads. Both heartfelt and radio-friendly, her first offering gained her quick recognition, mainly in France, where she began touring at the end of 2007 and where her LP was well-received, reaching highly respectable sales numbers.
