QUOTE (SH Forums) | In case anyone doesn't know the story behind the DCC version of 'The Original Soundtrack': This album was made available for a DCC release and SH proceded to work his magic. The DCC disc was actually pressed and ready for packaging when a legal/ licencing snafu emerged, delaying/ preventing distribution. In the meantime, MFSL released their own version (later followed by a re-mastered version by the original label). The DCC release was cancelled. The discs were put in storage. No booklets, back covers or packaging was ever printed. (I believe there is a past thread in which a member made a download of the front and back insert available. Check the 'search/ archives'.). After DCC went into bankruptcy, the company's assets were liquidated and all the stock was sold off, including the 10cc discs which had sat in storage. These discs have legitimately made their way into the marketplace. The DCC version is acknowledged to be the best sounding edition of this album. |
QUOTE (Tom Port over at Better Records) | Due to a licensing foul-up with Polygram, DCC was never able to release their version of The Original Soundtrack, although Steve Hoffman had already mastered it from the original master tapes and it had been given a catalog number, GZS-1083. Mobile Fidelity rushed out their gold CD version while Polygram stalled, and then it was too late. The project was reluctantly shelved. |
